Reading is one of the most important life skills. You can help your child become an enthusiastic and fluent reader by providing experiences that will lead to success. I hope you will implement some of these ideas over the summer. Keep a variety of books available so your child can choose which book to read such as- picture books, fables, fiction, and nonfiction, etc. If possible make frequent trips to the public library. Get your child his or her own library card. Parents or siblings can read to emergent readers. Here is a list of suggested books to read this summer. Pick three books to read and make a bookmark after you are finished reading. Write the title and draw a picture of your favorite part of the story. Don’t forget to practice your addition and subtraction facts as well. Have a safe and fun summer! I look forward to meeting you next year! Happy reading!
